About the Society, Dunn County Historical Society

Formed in 1950, the Dunn County Historical Society discovers, preserves, interprets and shares knowledge about the history of Dunn County and its role in Wisconsin, and inspires interest in the past.

Become a member. As a DCHS member you'll have many exciting --- and historical --- opportunities. Explore the Russell J. Rassbach Heritage Museum, featuring Fulton's Workshop, located in Menomonie's Wakanda Park, or picnic at the Caddie Woodlawn Historical Park.

Your help is needed! Membership supports the operation of the museum, including the interpretation and proper care of many fascinating artifacts. As a society member you are invited to special events, receive a free subscription to The Dunn County Historian, receive free admission to the museums, sneak previews of new exhibits, and a 10% discount on items in the museum gift shop.

As a member you support many DCHS sponsored events. Members are encouraged to volunteer to help with sponsored events, as well as museum activities. Read about the benefits associated with each category of membership at the Membership Form link below.

Current Projects
In addition to our daily operations, there are also several special projects that you can support with an additional gift. You can make one or more of these projects a success with a generous contribution.

Hilkrest School and Tainter Playhouse Improvements

Your contribution to this project will allow us to improve the exhibits, and restore the Hilkrest one-room school and Tainter Playhouse, on our Wakanda Park campus.

Endowment Fund

Your contribution to our endowment fund is a gift that keeps on giving. Established in 2020, the fund is managed by Community Foundation of Dunn County and up to five percent each year in earnings will bounce back to the Society.
